I don't believe this is safe, it's certainly stressing the snake, and could potentially be LESS humane than letting the snake do what it does. The mouse is not the mouth breather in this case.

As for the snake's temperament, can you explain what you mean by kicking or jumping? I'm trying to imagine how one does either of those things without legs.
