Would you risk it?
Im interested in buying a normal female that was supposedly with a hidden gene wama and platy daddy... Would you guys risk it? The breed said he witnessed copulation a month ago and said he would back one up before he ships.. What are the chances of hitting gold? Is it worth buying for the gamble or is it a shot in the dark for her to ovulate.. If it doesn't work out i would be paying $400 for a normal which wouldn't be the end of the world.

I wouldn't unless he could provide photographic evidence of breeding. Even still I always see people selling breeders during the breeding season as a huge red flag.
can he at least prove that he has the supposed fathers?

If he was to back them up he probably would be able to. Im not too much of a risk taker though and i feel its a big risk for me atleast lol $400 is allot of money for a normal and would be hard to justify. Im sure if all the above is true its probably likely she would reabsorbing her follicles from the stress of shipping and being in a new environment.

As far as I know, Platty Daddys are not very common.

So wait.
Even if one of them did take, unless she's a carrier of one or both genes, you aren't going to get anything spectacular. I don't think. The whole Platty Daddy thing make my head hurt.
I certainly wouldn't do this. If I'm gonna spend $400, it's going to be on a sure thing, not a long shot.

yeah im definitely not going to go with it. But if she was gravid with either of those fathers the clutch would be more than spectacular. It would be dificult to tell if the babies would be "het platty" or just normal from the hidden gene wama breeding. Basically from what i understand the platty gene is like a recessive all the babies would be het platty dady.
