Space Heater
So I'm using a space heater to try and heat up my room because my mom likes the house to be cold and won't bump it up a few degrees because she hates snakes Haha anyways, I was wondering if anyone has some tips on how to use a space heater safely and how to help it be effective for my snake's tubs. She is also afraid of the risk of fire with the space heater, but she did allow me to get it, any advice is much appreciated.

What type of space heater are you using. Oil filled seem to work the best ad I think are some of the safer ones out there. I would avoid any heater with open coils/heating elements.
Also when you are running the heater make sure it is the center of the room and around 3ft from anything. It would also be a good idea to get a thermostat for it. Be carefully which therm you get cause some say not to use with an oil filled heater.
Is there any kind of fan in the room for air circulation. It is preferable to have a consist room temp rather than hotter and cooler spots.

I am using a Honeywell and yes it is in an open spot and the room doesn't have any cool/warm spots it is generally about the same. Thank you for the advice.

Ditch the space heater and pick up an oil filled radiant heater. They give off consistent heat with a much reduced chance of fire and are quite a bit more efficient. You can run it on a thermostat for precise heat control.

Excellent! The risk of fire with an OFH is fairly low, and even lower if you run it on a thermostat.

I don't have money to get a thermostat for it but i'm setting the temp for about 74-78 whichever gets my cold side of the tub to about 75 degrees.

With an OFH a thermostat is not an absolute must (I ran one for an entire winter with out a thermostat) but, it does make it easier to regulate the temp.

We are running an oil filled heater in our closet for some of our reptiles/inverts/feeder bugs. I only have it set with the thermostat on the heater itself and it keeps the closet at 82 at all times (accurite thermometer). We have even been hatching our leopard geckos in that closet, without plugging in the incubator! The incubator is much more consistent this way!
