    A neat little find...

Found this little beauty in our back yard. My son found it, actually...then came in and said, "Mom! There's a snake in the back yard!"

Not a snake, but a young glass lizard. It was very calm when I first picked it up, probably afraid to move. I only got to take a few pictures when it decided to "wake up" and totally flipped out, spinning and twisting like a little mad creature. At that point, I was afraid I'd hurt him by restraining him, or drop him, so I only held on long enough to release him into a safe corner of the yard where he could go hide and not be in any danger of dogs or lawn mowers.

Wish I could have gotten more pictures, but was glad to have gotten any at all!

    Re: A neat little find...

They're very neat. This is the third one I've seen, but only the first one I've been able to take pictures of.

The first time I saw one, was when a guy doing lawn work for me killed it and then told me about it. He thought he'd "saved" us from the "poisonous" snake in the back yard. It had been a big, mature one, too.

The second time, my dog found one, about the same size as the one in my hand....but neither the dog nor myself caught that one, which I was glad for.

    And then this one.

That's awesome Judy!! Thanks for sharing the pics. It's not often those guys turn up. Wish we had a few around here, but we're outside their natural range I guess. We live out in the country and there's all sorts of wildlife here, but we don't usually get to see much. I think our dogs tend to keep most critters away. So I have to rely on pictures others post here!

Very nice find! The mature males around here have a beautiful green and blue hue to them, always a treat to come across one.
