The official Snake Awareness Day will be on May 14th and is quickly approaching. It happens to be on a Monday, so it's not the best day for everyone to organize events. So, here in Central Oregon, we will be promoting snake awareness throughout mid May. A friend and I initiated and have been updating the Snake Awareness Day Facebook page for our state, and our herpetology group and reptile 4-H club will be coming together to do a big public Snake Awareness Day live snake display at one of the local malls on the Saturday before the official Snake Awareness Day. Then some of us from the local herpetology group will also be giving educational presentations at local schools, which the kids always really enjoy.

I'm just wondering if any of you are going to be doing anything special to promote Snake Awareness Day in your communities? I'd love to hear some more ideas on ways to promote snake awareness.
