Hissing!
I got a new Spider about 5 days ago. About 700-800 grams (getting scale very soon) Already ate once. The problem is I want to take him out and handle him but he hisses at me. I thought maybe he is still getting use to his new home, but he has been out and about and already ate once. Is this just a bluff on his part? Should I handle him or is he still getting settled in? I was never bit before. I know it's going to happen eventually, but if I can prevent it more power to me I guess. Thanks!!

Why would he eventually bite you? It is pretty rare for a 800g BP to bite.
He is just hissing to let you know to leave him alone. As long as he has had time to settle in and digest his food, you are fine to pick him up and handle a little at a time until he gets more used to it.

Re: Hissing!
One more dumb question... I f I am going in to get him and he starts hissing while I am reaching for him should I continue to pick him up?

You wrote, "I know it is going to happen eventually" immediately after mentioning never being bit. How else was I to read that?

Take it however you want. Don't matter to me. I meant in general, not by this particular spider. You answered my question. The latter is irrelivant...

The hiss is much worse than the bite. If they hiss and you start leaving him alone your never going to fix the problem because your teaching them "hiss and I get left alone". Good luck and if you get bit just remember to grab a camera and welcome yourself to the club.
