First attempt at f/t = FAIL!
Well I tried switching my girl over to f/t tonight, she wanted nothing to do with it. But at least I tired. Should I leave the mouse in her tub overnight? Her husbandry is spot on btw.

You can leave it but you'll probably find it there in the morn. Next time try feeding her a live mouse or rat with the tongs to get her used to them. Do that a few times then try switching to fresh killed or f/t

I found the hair dryer/heat lamp techniques for warming the head/chest up really well to help. My albino was a little stubborn at first but after warming it up a bit more, she took it right away. Had to do the dead rat dance around her hide a bit though.

Re: First attempt at f/t = FAIL!
My Clown was hard to switch over too. By the time he's ready to eat, the prey's too cold. So I heat it up a second time if he still seems interested. Then, if the head's over 115 degrees, he'll hit it.

Well what do ya know, I left the mouse in her tub overnight, and she ate it. I guess she just needed her privacy. Well that made my day knowing she will eat frozen

So should I still stick to frozen since she EVENTUALLY ate it?

That's the trick for a couple of mine as well......closet eaters

My normal is a closet eater. I have never fed live, ever. Keep feeding the f/t. Since you need to leave it alone... you should make sure the f/t is completely dry so the substrate doesn't stick to it (or rest it on a piece of cardboard).

As long as shes eating then I would say stick with it. I've seen Bp's eat this way before and on occasion becomes the preferred method of eating. Congrats on the switch over.
