Your best bet is just leave the eye alone until the next shed. It doesn't hurt the snake to have one retained, and you run a real risk of doing much more harm than good.

Yes. Melissa claims to be an expert, but a lot of her husbandry and care advice is potentially dangerous. Like take that link the op posted for example. She said use tape to take left over shed and eyecaps off.
Can you imagine if some newbie used a really sticky type of tape like packaging tape on a reptile? That's going to pull off more than left over shed.....

She's also AGAINST keeping reptiles and I believe is a supporter of PETA.
