    Ideally, that would work...but let's say that your single powerhouse male is a reluctant breeder and doesn't come around till he's 3-4 years old...something that's known to happen and has happened to me(albeit not with a high dollar animal). Your idea then becomes lost time and lost money. Hedging your bets on a single male is risky.

    Not to mention that if you come running out of the gates with a lot of high end animals, you're cutting down on who you will appeal to by a significant amount, and you'll find yourself up against some stiff competition and may not be able to move them so easily.
