    Quail eggs?

We recently bought some quail and are raising them for their eggs. We had them as babies and they are just NOW (as in today!) starting to finally lay eggs. (exciting)

Snakes eat eggs in the wild right? Has anyone ever offered a boa an egg? It's just a quail egg so they are very small. I ate a raw one - should I offer one to my hog island and my kenyan sand boa?? I would think it'd be a super healthy treat if they gave it a try.

    What do you guys think?

I dont think snakes eat eggs in the wild except for a specific species that are known to. I think they have a special tooth in the back of their throat to crack the shell. I kinda remember seeing that on Animal Planet or something but im not positive...

I've looked around a bit and if you google snake eating an egg you get a ton of pics of them eating one. Some of them look like they ate eggs that were a bit too large for them judging my the bulge they left LMAO. My quail eggs are little so I think my quail egg to my snake's body ratio would be fine and probably wouldn't even leave much of a bulge.

I guess the worst that would happen would be my snakes would just think I'm insane for offering an egg instead of a mouse and just not eat it. I can't think of any danger if they did eat one unless they decided they want eggs instead of mice from now on. ha

    Re: Quail eggs?

Quite a few species of snakes will eat eggs, but I'm pretty sure boas won't.

Dasypeltis or Elachistodon westermanni that is it I believe for egg eaters. There are only 6 different snakes some are from Africa however...
