I've used them in smaller sizes for storing office supplies. They are sturdy as hell, but not cheap. For me, the extra expense isn't worth it. Good luck with them! Please keep us posted on the project.

I have a dozen of these and I do like them.
Downside is, yes they are expensive, and they are heavy. I caught mine on sale at an Office store for around $14 each.
Plus side is, they are an ideal size for me since I cannot get the sterilite drawers I was using. They seem all but escape proof. And my snakes are doing well in them, going on 3 months now I've had them.

Let me know how it works out with that brand! I had the same idea for a temp enclosure while I housesit for my parents (they're going away for nearly a month and it's a PITA to run 2+ hours across town on the bus just to mist and check on the snake) and have found that shockingly few people use these. Just my luck, I still have the employee card from Staples that gives me a discount, so I can get these for a bit cheaper than retail price.

Re: Trying new tubs! "Really Useful Box" brand
I'll be using RUB's to house babies next year. Don't think they need holes unless too humid... They're designed with vents at the edge of the lid. Please update on progress. I think they'll make excellent cages!

Is there much give in the middle of the lids on the sides? I just ordered a 70 liter for my Black Milk (no heat required) and wonder if I need to secure the lid in addition to the handles.

Trying new tubs! "Really Useful Box" brand
I love these boxes. I use them for Tarantulas and have kept hatchling Carpets in them.
I have a couple of escape artist (baby sand boas) in one now. So far so good. They can get over the edge.

The lids on 40 liter tubs are solid with no give in the middle. Very secure. Hopefully 70 liter will be the same.
