retained eye cap

my bp had just shed tuesday, he shed beautiful and in one piece it seem as the eye caps had come off but one of his eyes appear wrinkled, so i was wondering any tips on removing it

Leave it alone until the next shed. It will not harm your snake at all.

You can place him in a warm damp pillow case for 30minutes to an hour. I usually say hour if the snake still has actual retained shed. But I think the eyes will take less time.

If that doesn't work, just wait until the next shed. Just make sure your humidity is spot on for the next shed and the caps should come off.

Do not try to peel off the eye cap(s). You may do more harm than good.

There's no reason to mess with eye caps. Leave it alone. The only reason I would mess with a shed was if it was a full body shed. Even then I still don't play with the eyes. Keep your humidity up and wait for the next shed. It's only annoying for us.

Like everyone has said, don't touch it. You could do the pillow-case thing, but that will just stress the snake out. It will come off next time.

Check the shed for caps next time. If you unroll the whole thing you can find the snake's head pretty easily on the shed and the eyes are pretty obvious. I do this every shed for peace of mind, even if the shed does smell and feel gross.

Yup, just unroll the shed and you will see if its eye caps came off. It may be a retained eye cap, but am I the only one who thinks the OP ball could be dehydrated/lack of humidity? Wrinkled eyes often signify a lack of humidity or dehydration. Worth looking into. If it is an eye cap, just leave it be. It will come off next shed.

not a big deal until it has more than one built up on it. however when they do build up I do one of two things to get rid of it: 1 put it in a sweat box(shoe box with a warm wet wash cloth or tea towel) usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. or 2 wet a q-tip and gently wipe it across the eye cap. Make sure the sweat box isnt directly over the basking area but keep it warm. This also works great with a poor shed. Good luck and happy herping!!!! Damon
