Define a quality pewter?
I realize you should 'pick one you like' and I have. Now I'm curious what the general standard of quality is with this morph. Are there any indicators as to the quality of the 2 pastels in it?
More faded head is better?
More faded back is better?
Should there be more alien heads or less?
Should the alien heads have squiggly lines in them or be closed and uniform?
Should the alien heads be closed circles or open on the bottom due to 'flames'?
Tail stripes and neck stripes-> the longer the better?
Gap between the alien heads down the middle of the back should be 'clean'?
More gold or more axanthic style grey and whites?
Are less alien heads without 'eyes' better or worse?
Less of the little white spot areas on the gradient along the edge of the belly is better? (areas where the smooth gradient is broken by an even toned white circle on the side of the belly)?
Thanks in advance and I'll post pictures later since she's handleable now!

I like the more yellowy quality of the pewters versus the more silvery quality of black pewters. Theyre both nice but thats just my preference. As for the pattern i dont like the really washed out faded ones. I also like bright blushing coming up the sides.
One i like:

One i dont care for as much:

EDIT: These are random googles images that i do not own nor claim to.

I feel the same way. I was unsure if the more 'washed out' ones were actually more desirable because it shows some extreme quality of the pastels combining or something.
Lighter yellow is better? Do they 'brown out'?

Re: Define a quality pewter?
Yes, they brown out. Some very badly, however it doesnt seem to be directly related to the quality of pastel they carry. Both my pewters a very dark/browned out, but have thrown some great pastels/super pastels.

Here is my Black Pewter het Hypo. She has a very blushed out head and nice dark pattern, not much yellow. She was 800g in this pic.

Blushed out black backs, connecting sides, and high white flames is what I go for when it comes to Pewters.
The Pewters in this clutch of mine last year are what I consider just about as perfect of a pewter as I can get. I like a little more connecting sides but these are about the best I've produced.

This one is also just about as good as I've produced as well. Only thing missing to me is a little extra side connecting and she'd be perfect.

Really depends on your preferences. Each individual have their own opinion whether the Bp is a good example of the morph it represents. Like for me, I prefer darker pewters, w/ very few alien heads and granite-like patterns. Just like what most black pewters are.

Personally, I prefer the more silvery Black Pewters compared to yellow Cinny Pewters. But I still appreciate a beautiful Pewter.
Pewters shouldn't have squiggles in the alien heads as that is a characteristic of Black Pastels.
I think the alien heads should be clean and connected. I like eye spots on them with a bold outlining. The backs should be fully blushed out from the Cinny gene. I don't really care for any pattern or striping on their backs. Black back pattern is the way to go.
A smooth look to them is always good. I'm not a fan of any wavy, rough, granite look.
In the end, like everyone always says, it's your preference. If you like her, that's all that should matter.
Can't wait to see your girl.
