Awesome nice pick up. The only problem from getting those from someone on cl is they could have lied and thy are not 100% sd and end up with 18 ft snakes. Not trying to be a downer but things like that I consider a risk just like if they were hets.

You def have a point. But I'd they turn into full grown retics then that means I just added to my collection. For the price I paid on them, I made out. I'm hoping they are SD's but if not, ohh well. Just that much more snake to love and care for.

Is the size difference pretty significant with the SDs? What length would you say you are expecting in the female later in her life?

If they show true like any other python my guess for the female would be about 9.5'-10'. The male would be about 6.5', but that is just my guess. I don't have a ton of experience with the SD's.
Both the snakes are almost 5 years old so they should be relatively close to their adult size.

Of all the adult female SD's that I have encountered, the average size is around 6 - 7 feet. Perhaps yours has some dwarf genes in there as well. 8 feet is a tad large.
In any event, congrats on the gorgeous pick ups!

Sd's usually stay in the 6-9 ft rang, reg Dwarfs can get up to about 12 ft or so.

The tape is temporary. If have them in a couple of my prototype cages. I will eventually route a groove for the wire to sit in.

I've seen SDs around 8-9'. All the really tiny ones are usually the ones that are true SDs. I've seen 4' tiger SDs but they aren't 100 percent. As of now there are not any SD morphs out there that are %100.
