handling and "bathroom" issues
A question I have is whether BPs will poop on you while being handled.
My son has been handling our new BP less these last couple days because he thinks she needs to go and doesnt want to get pooped on. But from the sound of it, he could be waiting a couple weeks to handle her again.
Is it usual for them to go just anytime anywhere, or do they usually like the comfort and privacy of their home? The only time she has pooped since we got her was in the middle of the night.

as stated there is no definite time or place they prefer, most often they don't, but sometimes when ya gotta go, you gotta go.

Of all the snakes I have ever owned, caught, and handled i have only been musked by wild ones. Aside from that it hasnt happened to me.
With that said I consider my self very very lucky considering the vast number of animals I have held. It is always a possibility but its a very low chance of it happening.
Oh and they only really poop as much as you feed them and sometimes less. so if you feed once a week expect a poop once a week. and if you get it on that small window of time wash up and by a lotto ticket.

Re: handling and "bathroom" issues
Hi,
I tend to look for signs of a full butt before handling - if I see one I tend to skip it.

The trick to this is to study the tail closely.
A ball who needs to go has a swollen and puffy tail, it is unmistakable.
As to having it happen on you, sooner or later it will happen no matter how careful you are. Laugh about it, change clothes and take a shower, and tell yourself your a real owner now.

Re: handling and "bathroom" issues
I've only had my mojave a few weeks and got surprised by a rush of liquid while watching tv with him in bed the other night. I immediately put him back in his tank and he finished his job (#2 generally follows immediately after). Last night I was holding him in the living room and low and behold he did it again. Luckily we got the paper towels out before the job was finished. Its disgusting but a little soap and water never hurt anyone. Hopefully your son can get used to it. I would say if it hasn't happened yet don't freak out until it does and then deal with your feelings about it. I feel better knowing that my snake feels better.

In my experience, some snakes are more prone to going while you're handling them than others.
I used to have a Pastel that would go, at least a little, everytime he was taken out of the tub. I always had a towel in one hand anytime he was in the other.
Most of mine have never pooped or peed during a handling session.
Many of them will go right after being handled...seems like the exercise get's their system moving.
