Incubator Fan and Temp Flux

For some reason there is a 3 degree variance from one end to the other. 88 on the far left, 89.5 in the middle, and 91 on the far right. Is that ok?

I am thinking about get an incubator fan but all the ones I've read about are CPU fans that you have to wire yourself. Are there any that are premade to just plug in an outlet?

With a little pen knife and some electrical tape it'll take you 5 minutes to wire it yourself.

Don't get an AC fan they will raise the temp of your bator. Get a 12v DC comp fan

Computer fan.
Cut off the end. There will be a black, red, blue, and yellow...just ignore the blue and yellow.


Get a cell phone charger.
Cut of the end. There will be a red and black wire.


Put on some heat shrink stuff. Then connect the two. Red to red. Black to black. Put some electrical tape over each connection, then use the heat shrink. Then wrap it all in electrical tape.



Mount the fan, plug it in and you're good to go! It's really easy and I'm sure most people have at least one old cell charger laying around...

Do not get an AC fan. You can pick up a DC fan at Radio Shack. I used an old computer fan and it burnt out. Better to start with a new one. Get a low CFM fan. You want to move air, not create a wind tunnel.

I put a fan in my incubator since i had the same problem. The bottom was hotter than the top. Its a 48 qt cooler. How fast should the fan be blowing? Mine blows very little air. I tried a dimmer but it feels the same. Thks.

I buy my fans from this place. I also buy a cord that has a variable speed adjustment on it. That way, I can adjust the airflow in the incubator.

How do you know that the plug you are using is even compatible with the fan you have chosen? I willing to bet you have not matched up the voltage on the fan and the plug. That is a no no and can cause fires.

The cell phone's charger has a lower voltage than the computer fan I chose. I've read that as long as the cord you'll be using to plug in has a lower voltage(or same voltage), than the computer fan, then it's ok.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I definitely don't want to cause any fires.
