Finding lost savannah monitor.

Hey guys, I've got a friend of mine who just recently lost her savannah monitor Jeff. She had left for work and came home and he wasn't in his cage and the screen was knocked out of her bedroom window (leads to a roof) he has been out since Saturday and she has yet to find him. She is ripping the ivy out of her yard as we speak to see if he dug down into it. Anyone have any tips? I already said out food outside and a heat lamp to give him a spot for heat but he never showed. Anything else we can do? I feel really bad for her.

how big is this monitor? Never rule out the possibility that it may still be inside as well. I had to knock out a wall once to get to my ornate once after he'd escaped his cage and found a small hole to go through, I had checked every where else and was just going on a hunch that there was a slight possibility he had gone in there. Sure enough as soon as i had hit a large enough hole in the wall to see in with a flash light there he was.

Two and a half feet. About 5 lbs. And it occurred in new jersey. she said she looked in the house though. Nowhere to be found.

I hate to say this, But I need to be honest about the possibilities.

1. They are excellent climbers, so if it got out on the roof it's no problem for that lizard to leave.

2. they command territories that can cover miles in the wild, and once motivated can go great distances swiftly.

3. they can squeeze into really tight spots, I saw my fully grown Savannah Monitor squeeze through a gap less than two inches wide before. (Like a rat, if they can get their head through the hole, the rest will follow)

4. If it did get outside, the 40 degree nights have most likely taken the toll.

I'm not sure. I'm not there, I am in Ohio at my school. She found poop and a burrow that she is currently digging up. Well see what happens.
