    PAM getting here Finally!

The can of Provent A Mite I ordered 6 days is finally "out for delivery" according to FedEx tracking information. I got it from lllreptile along with a can sooth-something-or-other. I think it took this long because they had to contact me regarding shipping charges for some other overweigt stuff I included in the order.

Anyway, It's taken too long but I'm glad it's coming on a day I'm off work. I read some instructions online even tho I know the can will come with them. Some people seem to be concerned about killing their snakes with this. This doesn't worry me cuz I'll just re-read those instructions and take my time.

I think it would be prudent to take my birds out of the room tho. These fumes sound like serious stuff!!

Neither snake has eaten for 2 weeks and after Tuesday, I gave up trying. I figured they wouldn't eat until the mite situation is resolved anyway.

How soon after using the PAM do you think they'll be ready to eat again?

    Wish me luck!

Take the enclosure outside and do it. Do not spray directlly on the animal and follow all instructions to a tee. Pam is no joke and can kill a snake if your not careful. Ive seen it happen. A local guy here sprayed a tub in his collection and put the sbake backnin right away before letting it dry and by the next morbing the snake was so neuro it had lost all control over all motor skills. It was really bad. Needless to say the snake didnt make it.

Yikes! Yea, I'll take this thing outside then.

I'm sure the instructions will explain this (I hope) but can I hose down the entire tank after the PAM dries? Or would that just undo the treatment?

I'll leave the snakes a full 24 hours if I have to.

    thanks!

Since the purchasing of pam means mites heres what i would do. If using a substrate i would chuck all the substrate. Spray the enclosure and all things in it. Then let it dry. I would then put paper towels i the bottom of the enclosure and spray them with pam as well. Let that dry. Once everything is dry and its been outside for a couple hours then i would put a clean water bowl in and the snake. I like to keep the animal on paper towels for a week just so i can visually see any mites if any exist. You may see some dead one that are coming of the snake. After the week is over then i would introduce more new substrate of your choice. Now while you are treating the enclosure it wouldnt be a bad idea to fill up a container with a couple inches of warm water and soak the animal. Obvuouslly you dont want too much water. Just enough for the snake to be able to submerge itself but still being able to chill with its head out of water.

When I spray my tubs I spray them outside. That way I don't have to worry about all the critters in my house breathing in the fumes and they can dry outside before I bring them in. As far as eating, I would try once a week.
