If you use tape on the outside (I have to use tape to cover up holes on my tub to control humidity) then make sure you stick a smaller piece of tape to the larger one so the only thing the snake could possibly touch with their body would be the back of the smaller piece of tape. It's probably the only time to use tape and only like that. Don't ever use it inside the enclosure to stick down the probe or anything. If it's accessible at all, the snake will find a way to get themselves stuck to it. It's better not to use it at all and not have to worry about injuries.

When you're hot-gluing the probe down, make sure you only glue on the cord and not the probe end itself. If you glue over the heat sensing part of the thermometer, there's no telling just how accurate the readings are and if it's even going to work at all.
