Temp/Humidity in rack system

So I get a used Boamaster 4 tub rack and herpstat thermastat because its suppose to be better for the temp/humi, Well now im frustrated. I have the herpstat @ 102 and my hot side is 92 and cool side 82 and Humid 37% and thats with a bowl of water in it. My flexwatt is going down the back of the rack (back heat) is this ok and is that normal to have the thermastat about 10 degrees higher then the reading of the temp? also this is going to be a problem come winter, I have a accurite in the tub now however im waiting on a temp gun i ordered. Also the tubs have no holes in them yet is that a problem? I thought that the humid would have been higher do to that fact.

The temp difference is normal. I have my herpstat set for 107-110 in my RBI rack to achieve proper temps. As long as you monitor temps it shouldn't be a problem. Some people don't even use holes in their rack. If you're having issues with humidity, I wouldn't drill any holes.

Our thermostat is set to a different temp to keep proper temp in tub. When shed time rolls around I move my water dish over the flexxwatt to get humidity up a bit more. Not sure with back heat though. Maybe try a bigger water dish?

Your issue with the difference between the Herpstat setpoint and the actual tub temp is common with a rack set up, especially with back heat.

Your problem with the low humidity is interesting though. I've never had an issue keeping good humidity in a rack set up. What size water bowls are you using, and what are you measuring the humidity with? With no holes in the tubs, your humidity should be good to go, even too high. With my racks, if I didn’t have any holes in my tubs, my humidity would be in the 85% range.

Like everyone said, the higher thermostat temp is normal.
What size water bowls are you using? Try using larger ones and place them closer to the hot side. I use dog size water bowls and reach an ideal humidity with a few holes.

First off i want to thank all of you for your help. Anyway im using a regular size cereal bowl and i had it on the cool side so when i get home i will move it to the back by the hot side. I have a accurite in the tub with a probe for the hot side and it has a humi reading on it. i guess the back heat isnt the best however i bought it from someone who has a lot of ball pythons. I have it at 102 on the herpstat and looks like i will raise that. Could the humidity be low because im using unprinted news paper for a subtrate.Anyway i hope to get it right soon the White Plains show is this Sunday.

The first question is why are you trying to get temps over 92ºF? I would actually giving the potential error of the accurites I would actually drop it to 90ºF inside.

I also have a number of holes in the tubs on the advise of John Rossi DMV, and Don Benoit DMV. There cannot be too much ventilation only too little. The problem is what is too little? The rule of thumb I was given is simple if the water bowl is removed (source of humidity) and the substrate (paper) is dry, the humidity should settle to the room's RH in 2 hours or less. (2 air exchanges per hour give or take) I have humidifier (warm mist type) in my room with the rack it keeps the room at 60% RH and the rack stays basically the same as the room. If you were holding much more than 10% RH over the room I would be concerned personally about too little ventilation.
