Tub/Rack Question
Hi guys! It seems like I have been posting a lot of forms lately, but I have been much occupied with snake solutions. Okay! Well I want to officially retire my glass tank set up, and put my ball python in a rack/tub system. Well my question is my room run anywhere between 70-74 degrees. Would I be able to provide proper cool side, and ambient temps in the tub? Also it would be very helpful if you all can recommend good places to purchase racks.

yeah you can, my room in the winter(in the basement) where my rack is has dropped down to 70 for a good week straight and my temps stayed fine with a 4in flex watt running on smaller tubs and 2 running on my 41 qt tubs. i made mine out of melamine, now I'm trashing it and getting a RBI this weekend just because melamine is to heavy and bulk for what i want.
you can try 2 tubs, one summer tub one winter tub, summer has more holes to keep the tubs from over heating, and winter tubs to keep the warm air in, just have to adjust accordingly to keep proper humidity. and all my snakes have never missed a meal during winter. i used belly heat for this reason, and my rack was closed on all 5 sides.

I have a rack in a room that runs 68 average year round. Yes it can be done. I run dual heaters warm and cool (4 inch and 17 inch) four zones (2 up down warm and 2 up down cool) combined with a very carefully adjusted air flow system. It is neither cheap or easy to maintain correct temps (80º ambient air and cool side with 90º hot spot) in cool rooms. Very few do so the vast majority use room heaters to hold the correct temps and many I know use humidifiers to hold RH. (well documented evidence about tubs and poor air flow contributing to health issues) If you plan on a rack my advise is take the easy road just heat the room to 80 and humidify to 60% RH it is 1000 times easier in the end. There is a reason why oil heaters go hand in hand with racks.
