    New here

Hi I'm Saint Tawny, a relatively new reptile keeper. I've pretty much always been a keeper of furry things, but last year I started dating a corn snake breeder and he introduced me to his snakes. Then I started getting attached to this ball python at the pet store where I work. He was always escaping his cage and I was the only employee capable of finding him. One day he wrapped himself around the lights in the system and when I reached under the shelf to grab him I accidently leaned my temple against the light and got a good shock to the head. So I took him home with me, and it's been all down hill since then. I've always been fascinated by genetics and wanted to breed something, but breeding furry things generally requires more space and time than I have as a college student, so when I was introduced to the idea of breeding snakes I got really excited.

Now I have five ball pythons. Nepthys (1400g female) and Dionysus (600g male) are my normals, Rhea (300g female) is my Pastel, Vrtra (250g male) is Pinstripe, and Myrina (150g female) if my Cinnamon. I also have a male gargoyle gecko, Pan. A few weeks ago, I built a rack for them which holds 7x 41qt tubs, and the two empty spaces are driving me insane. I want to add a piebald male and a Mojave female to my collection this season.

Outside of my reptiles, I'm a senior Pre-Veterinary major at the University of Delaware, graduating this May. I waste a lot of time geeking out over Game of Thrones, getting drunk at gaming parties and trying to get people to play Werewolf. I work at a mom-and-pop pet store where I'm the kitten manager and I also do the store's shopping whenever I go to a reptile show.

So far I think I've managed to piece together a decent understanding of ball python husbandry and genetics on my own but I thought it would be a good idea to join a forum so I could have access to a community of knowledge before I actually start any breeding. Also it sounds like there's something to be said for knowing people in the trade when buying/selling/trading animals comes up. My boyfriend sometimes does breeder loans for his corn snake projects and that sounds like a great way to diversify my collection once I have some experience under my belt.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to getting to know you guys
