How to become Fedex Certified?
Now I know you guys are going to harp on me for not using the search engine, but I don't think it hurts to start a new thread.
Anyway, glanced at google and did not find too much on this, but I am hoping to get Fedex Live Certified here soon and just wanted to know what you guys think the best way to do so.

You fill out the form and submit your test box per instructions..
Here is an email I received awhile ago explaining that there is an updated form. You can call this person with other questions or to direct you to a rep.
It's also helpful to set up your own FedEx account per their website. Even you never use it.
Monica, we have a new test application that you can download and prefill from your computer! Please make sure you are using this newest version, for any testing you may need in the future! We will use the form you submitted for this test. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance with this!

What does being Fed Ex certified do?

It means it's legal for you to ship reptiles yourself, because you've proven to them you know what you're doing, and you're in their system. Otherwise, you have to go through Shipyourreptiles.com.
(Which totally works, but presumably costs more? And once in a while some jerk will ship a rattler or whatever, which ruins it for everyone, because then SYR loses their certification to ship any and all snakes.)

SYR is actually much cheaper than shipping yourself.
Also, ZBP, remember being Fed Ex certified means you can only ship to a business address, NOT to customers' homes. Many people get Fed-Ex certified just to have the option as a back-up and then regularly use SYR or Reptile Express.

Oh, huh, I wondered about that. I just used SYR for the first time last week, and it worked like a dream, except that it included weird conversations with several Fed Ex employees who didn't know how it worked, and were certain I could only ship live animals business-to-business. They had to call up the wildlife desk in Memphis to confirm that SYR is allowed to ship business-to-residential.
(And for the purposes of the transation, I guess SYR/All-Pro Shipping is the "business" in the business-to-residential shipment.)
