I didn't know the definition of angry snake until last night...

So last night, I turned on my heated blanket to keep my toes warm, put on some Farscape to fall asleep to, and just as our cozy selves are about to pass out, we hear something hit the floor in the other room. Figured it was probably the cats, as they tear through the house at night. Didn't think much of it... eyes once again started glazing over, dreams entering my mind... and I hear a louder sound... didn't register immediately, and 10 seconds later, my eyes shoot open as the realization that the sound was from the snake room hit me. I jump out of bed, go into the snake room, stumble over to the light, and am met with two of our girls making a run for the window. I don't know where they think they were going.. just 'away' I guess.

One of them was one of our het albino girls, who wanted to murder me. I have not once seen her even remotely aggressive until last night. It may be because she was caught in the act of cruising across the baby rack and suddenly a blinding light took over the room. I don't know, I just know she lunged off of the top of the rack she was on, nearly grabbed me in the face, and then plummeted to the ground 4 feet down before I could blink and realize it had happened. She the proceeded to wiggle her tail (no musking... just frantic tail wiggling) while thrashing her body around, righting herself, and then chasing me a couple feet across the floor (tail wiggling the whole time).

They got out because a couple of the tubs can stick funny in the back as they get pushed in, and they got cleaned yesterday, but apparently the tubs weren't checked very well. Lesson learned.

We had a big burm we fostered and treated for RI that I thought was angry the one day when we stuck him with antibiotics and he chased my BF across the ground.. but that was more fearful/defensive from being stuck with a needle... and he settled down quickly after a burst of energy.

This. girl. was. LIVID. I'm glad she's already laid for us this year. That fall couldn't have been good. I doubt it caused any real issues, but I would be more concerned if she were full of eggs. Now I get to keep a close eye on her for any issues, and let her know I wont take it too personally.

What a horror story, well at least you didn't write it off as the cats. I know what you mean my cats go bs at night as well. Hope your snake is ok. Sounds like you just startled her pretty good.

I'm so sorry, but the mental image of a BP chasing anyone cracks me up However, when my big pastel girl decides she doesn't feel like coming out of the tub, she can get pretty intimidating. Mostly lots of huff and puff, but I've gotten some almost arm wraps from her as well. Once she's out of the tub it disappears.

I wonder if she had a reaction to a smell or something, it's most definitely odd behavior for a BP to do anything like chase anyone. Glad everything turned out alright!

Rob - yeah, it was too gentle to be the cats. The largest of the two cats is still under 10 lbs.. the two of them rushing down the hallway sounds like a pair of St. Bernards. It's ridiculous.

I wish I had it on video... she's not even that big of a girl... but she certainly meant business, lol. Before last night, I'd never had to pin a BP head down to grab as if she were venomous. The second I grabbed her she started thrashing harder.
