About to replace cypress with paper towels, anything I should know about?

I have a 20gal tank and it's getting really annoying cleaning out the tiny fragments of wood so I decided to switch to paper towels.

Is there anything in particular I should know about before doing it? Or if anyone has any tips like direction to lay down the paper towels.

    Thanks

What you want to do is to split the tank into quarters and put a separate sheet on each

for example, my 4x2 foot T8 needs 2 sections of 2 sheets, and 2 sections of 3 sheets

And since I'm sure that made no sense here are some pictures:

This makes cleaning easier and wastes less paper towels. Besides that, and the fact that if you are using a UTH you will need to adjust your thermostat... things shouldn't be any different.

Try blue shop towels, way more absorbant than paper towels.

Keep an eye on him when feeding. There have been horror stories about BPs ingesting a paper towel accidentally and dying. That being said, I have 8 BPs from 400-700g on paper towels with no problems - just make sure prey items are dry so they won't stick to the paper. You'll also need to mist more often, because paper towels don't hold moisture as well as cypress for humidity.

Yup, my humidity dropped from 70s to 54% which I feel is fine for when they aren't in shed

Good advice. Just monitor feeding I use only paper towels as well and love them. I have never used the blue shop towels, they may be a bit more expensive, I dunno. One more hint is to buy the select a size PTs, they always work better for getting the sizes right...
