Baytril
Quick question. The vet prescribed baytril for an RI. 5 doses. One dose every five days. Sound correct? Thanks.

I think it would depend on the dosage amount. I gave my burms 1 dose every 2-3 days about 3 times.

Okay got the dosing correct. He is on his third of ten injections. Every other day. Still wheezing. How long is recovery time? When should I notice a marked improvement? Thanks.

In all honesty, you may not notice vast improvement for up to a week AFTER you finish administering the medication. Definitely make sure you take him/her in for the re-check with the vet just to be sure that he is improving. Full recovery can take weeks. :/ Very frustrating. But hopefully you will notice slight improvement after the first few injections. Depends on the animal and his/her response to the medication.
Did you have a tracheal flush done to identify the exact strain of pathogen? Or did the vet just give you Baytril?

They just started him on Baytril and said if it didnt clear up that a culture would be the next step. I know most say a culture is a must.

It depends on how large the dosage is and how advanced the RI.
On minor to mild its usually prescribed 5mg/kg. On more advanced its 10mg/kg with larger dosages. Though never head of doing shots every 5 days as not sure how affective that will be. ID do more every 3 days at most. And if doing orally every 24 hours.

Yeah the dosage was changed to every other day. I wanted to get a general idea of when I should know if the meds are working or not.
