GRRRR! Hot Fan!

It was a false wall that drew air from the top and pulled it down and heated it and spit it out at the bottom.

Doesnt make a difference how its mounted, simple operation of the fan will generate heat.

Grab any appliance in your house, and it'll be warm.

The 12v fans kick out plenty of air and stay cool

I second the fact that the fan is overheating. You need to have easy air flow over the fan. Not to mention, if you restrict the air flow through the blades you will burn the motor up.

Hi,

I would go with a lower voltage and RPM fan - larger and slower is the way to go and put a dimmer switch in to for fine control on top of that.

Anyone know where to get a decent DC Fan? This one was already a 4", maybe a 6"?

Alright, problem solved with a 5v 1.5A 4" fan I found at work. Used a 6V wall wart and ran that into a cheap DIY power supply so I can crank it down to around 3v. So far the heat is rock solid stable. Here is the power supply I put together.
