so in my tank i do have everything from kindof dry where miss siss likes to be during the day (85- 95 f and humidity at 40%), and thats when the lizards and bugs move around more. then there is the chubby frog who likes it more in the middle (75- 80 f and humidity of 50%- 70%) then at the other side of the tank you have where the green tree frog likes to stay most his time (65-80 f and 70%-100% humidity)
so yes i have everything that they all need and i take miss siss to the vet and he even said that she is a healthy and uncomenly friendly snake. i will keep taking her to the vet and keep everyone posted on how everyone is doing. thank you all for your "advice". i will also keep puting pics on facebook.

Ok, I said I was gonna' stay out of this one...Sue me, I lied.

Kendra, Your set up is just not what your BP needs. I understand your Vet may think your snake is healthy, but most Vets wouldn't know a healthy BP from a sick donkey. If your Vet knows what kind of set up you have, and he's fine with it, you need to find a new Vet. Seriously.

Your BP needs a little more than "kind of dry". From the pictures I saw on facebook, I can't believe she hasn't gotten scale rot yet. The vast majority of your tank is far too wet for a BP. You do understand that they come from the grass lands of western Africa, right? And, you do understand that your green tree frogs come from the rain forest, right? There is no way those two environments can coexist in the same tank. Let me say that again, there is no way that will work long term.

You seem like you want to be a responsible ball python keeper. If that is the case, I implore you to set your snake up in a proper enclosure where you can meet all her needs, and not compromise her safety by keeping her in the middle of that thing you call a zoo. BTW, they wouldn't do what you are doing at a zoo. That should tell you something.

Apparently not. And Slim is right about the zoo as well. If you went to a Zoo and found they were keeping Giraffes, Penguins and Lions together would you not think "Errrm, surely not?"...?

Good luck with the shedding too

It seems like a good Idea if you picture it but when you actually take a look at all the enclosure requirements for each individual you will see your problem. Do the right thing before something gets sicks. I also second what slim said about your vet only an idiot would think thats ok.

I understand that this is pretty surprising to posters, but I don't see the need for so much sarcasm.

To the OP - Please take a look at the caresheet on this site for your BP: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ius)-Caresheet . In addition, I'm concerned about the accuracy of your hygrometers and thermometers as well, since they are telling you that you have that dramatic of a humidity range in the same enclosure (even though it sounds enormous). If they are the dial kind, rather than digital, then they are most likely giving you very incorrect readings. I can't give specific advice on the setup, because I can't see pictures (my computer firewall), but my guess is that the substrate is a lot wetter than you may think, and air humidity isn't supposed to be the same as wet substrate (hence the earlier comments about scale rot). If you do nothing else, recheck your instruments, dry your substrate some, and stop putting live crickets in your vivarium, since they can actually attack and eat your BP's eyes if they get a mind to (dramatic, I know, but they are nasty little creatures).

Welcome to BP.net, and please take the advice offered, understanding that people don't always pay attention to their tone when posting a reaction on a forum.

Duly noted. I'll tone it down.

The OP also put "advice", so I got a little irked I guess because it really doesn't seem like she thinks of anything anybody said as advice.

I've certainly been pretty, er, direct, myself at times. I understand the annoyance at the quotation marks.

I just didn't understand the need for them really :/

The advice you posted is really good. Just seems to me (perhaps I'm just reading it all wrong) that people have been posting and advising her that the set up she has is less than ideal for her BP, but she really isn't interested in anything but showing and telling people about this "zoo". Tell me if I'm wrong
