we have 2 ball pythons, and my g/f wanted to get a little bunny today. i was wondering how that would work out with snakes in the house. would they go crazy from smelling the bunny everywhere, on our clothes and stuff? would they smell the little rabbit and try to eat it??? they have eaten rats very well for over a year now (roo 2 years), and i was worried if we had a bunny and pulled ou the snakes, they would think it was feeding time and smell the bunny and snap or try to eat us.... how would that go over? anyone have rabbits and snakes???? any advice would help....

Well, it might not be a good idea to keep them all in the same cage.

The real answer is ... maybe. They may exhibit a feeding response from the scent of the bunny on your clothes or they may not. It's really up to them.

I use to own a mini holland and about 90% of the snakes could care less ... others would be after my a$$ if I came from handling the bunny into the snake room.

If you can keep the bunny in a different room and wash your hands thoroughly between bunny and snakes, the amount of problems you'll have should be minimal.

Yeah, I keep rats and ball pythons. (and a few of my Bps eat rats!) I have the rats in a seperate room, way out of site from the snakes. And I always wash my hands after handling any of them. The rats are really not pets, they are food-breeders.

this should be interesting.. she is in a 1 bedroom house, and the snakes are in the living room. there is one place i can think to put the snakes, but it would be in the bedroom in front of the bed... her bedroom is small, so the bed hits 1 wall and there is enough space for the 50 gal tank between the foot of the bed and the other wall... i was thinking the rabbit could be kept in either the dining room or something, but the rabbit would always end up in the same room as the snakes i think. i guess the only way to know for sure is to dangle the bunny in the snakes face???? (JUST KIDDING). maybe the snakes will not pay much attention to the smell when they realise that smell does not mean food....???
i am just a bit worried about the rabbit running around the house, and then the snakes smelling where the rabbit ran around and thinking it's dinner time. i am not too worried about the rabbit and the snakes ever having a run in, but the middle man would be the one to get struck..
how stinky are rabbits by the way??? worse then rats, or cleaner smelling????? i know this isnt a rabbit forum.. but can they be potty trained????

Rabbit smell is nothing in comparison to rats or mice as far as urine smell
