    Acu-Rite Probe

So the acu-rite probe was covered in urine, I never removed the white mushy cover on the bottom of the probe (im assuming you can peel it off and it's sticky so you can stick it somewhere. Anyway it's stained yellow now and smells bad even after cleaning it.

My question is, did you guys remove the white cover on the bottom? Or what. If I remove it I don't want to stick it to anything, I'm not sure what to do? Cover it in plastic? But Will that effect and accurate temp reading?

    What do you guys do?

If you mean that the probe has a self adhesive backing, I would completely remove that by scraping it and cleaning the residue with alcohol or goo-gone. It can get stuck to your snake and peel off their scales.

I removed the foam tape on the probes. It isn't hard to do.

It has been years since I owned an accurite. I'd also never use an absorbent foam in the enclosure anyway so pull it off. If the probe measures humidity and temp it is likely going to have an opening and is quite likely the resistive sensor is soiled and less accurate than it was before. If it has an opening to electronics I'd not bother with it a toss it out. If it is sealed just wipe it off and disinfect like anything else and return it.

The ones I have at least are sealed so they should be ok.
