For those who think band is only for geeks

This is the Indoor Percussion show (part of Marching Band) that my high school did back in 2009. This video is of the Florida State Championships (FFCC) that we ended up winning.

The show was called Metal. It had 3 movements. the first movement is about metal in the industrial sense, the second is metal as art, and the last is metal as in the genera of music (we played an adaptation of Symphony X's Set the World on Fire from their 2009 Album Paradise Lost)

    (I'm the guy conducting)

    That...was....AWESOME!!

Severe talent going on there! I had the privilege of marching in award winning bands when I was in school...and my kids have done so more recently. I KNOW how much hard work goes into a phenomenal performance like that. Thank you for sharing!!!

exactly, Guitarist for 20+ years now, passed onto my son who is on my rear in skills already, and my oldest daughter is in the school band moving her way up to first chair on the Bass Clarinet. On a side note it was such a blast to help her learn the Clarinet using the guitar. and learning some of the clarinet myself.

well my HS band program was more modern, so our general line up was the doors, the eagles, guns & roses, nirvana, metallica, slayer, and various other bands. some originals as well. LOL. Just Sayin but i feel yeah i got so tired of purple haze, light my fire, and comfortably numb.

Really cool. I'm in my high school's marching band (Low brass section leader, aw yeah ) Unfortunately we're still fairly new, so we aren't very big. We started our first winter guard/ percussion ensemble for the first time this year (participating in that as well. Bass 4.) Nowhere near this level, but maybe one day. Mind if I share this on my band's facebook page? They could all use a bit of insight into what we should be striving for, because we're all pretty new to it. Half of us are wind players, so you can imagine how it's working out.

Go right ahead, here are some videos of my marching band, you can share these as well. We are a very small band, with only 25-40 marching winds depending on the year, but we won the florida Marching Band Championships 7 years in a row! Small bands can really do a lot.
