Its normal for a ball python to have random scales that are either lighter or darker than the normal colors. Pigment loss has even been seen on and around scales that have been subject to some kind of injury such as a hard rub or a bite (one of mine has lost color in a spot surrounding a bite).

Yup, perfectly normal. It adds to their character if you ask me.

I don't think he's ever been bitten before, but I only got him when he was about 1.5 to 2yrs old, so he could've been then. With the way he ate live it wouldn't surprise me..

I figured it wasn't too weird, but I've always wondered if he had these when he etched, or just developed them over time. I'm not 100% sure but I *think* I've seen a couple new ones after a shed. I had them all counted at once and I think the number was 18?
I do love thses little spots, since its just one more unique thing to him. I'm just one of those people who wonders WHY for everything, and over thinks things entirely too much, and pays very close attention to detail. though both of those led to me catching his RI a week before the vet did ( went in, said I think he has one, told him symptoms, vet looked him over really close, for a long time, and said he didn't appear to, but to return if the symptoms persisted... one week later and I had the vet telling me he was surprised that someone as new to snakes as I was, was able to catch the ri that early, I thank BP.net entirely )

My normal has some spots like that. At first they worried me, I thought they might be scrapes, but I quickly realized they are just the way she is. All snakes have patterns as unique as finger prints, very fun.

Now that im a computer, it doesnt look like there's any kind of scarring around them, so it must just be the way he is
