Quick incubating temp question.
Ok, so my female layed 9 eggs a couple days ago - they are all in the incubator right now.
I have a thermostat and a thermometer in the incubator.
For a few days the probe from the thermostat and thermometer were in the same spot and both showed 89F, then I figured I would put the thermometer probe in the egg container and now the thermometer shows 91F, and thermostat is still on the same temps.
Is it normal that inside the egg box the temp is a bit higher, or it's the thermometer is not showing the acurate temp don't know why ?
thanks for any advice .

That's normal. You need to adjust your thermostat so the temp is correct inside the box.

Re: Quick incubating temp question.
Ok, thanks One more question is about water droping on the eggs from condensation on the top - there is a few drops on one or two eggs - is it harmfull if so, how can I prevent it?
Greetings

Your temps are off thats why you have condensation, When eggs are warmer or cooler than outside air they form water on the tubs sides and lid. When eggs get wet they can die fairly fast.
Drop your t-stat set temp 1oF lower. I have my herpstat set at 87.8 and i get 89 in the tubs

ok, I will try that . So there should be no condensation at all?

Re: Quick incubating temp question.
You can tip one corner of your egg tub up a little, and any water gathering on the lid will then not drip directly on your eggs. Doesn't have to be much of a lean for it to work. If water is dripping on them now, wipe it off gently with some paper towel and they should be fine.

The problem is that the lid is not exactly straight, but it has some kind of pattern, so lifting it won't help + I prefer to have the egg box closed, so the humidity will stay high.
I might figure out something .

Re: Quick incubating temp question.
I think you misunderstand what I was saying. Lift one of the corners of your egg tub up a teeny bit, not the lid itself, and any water collecting on the lid will run to the low corner to drip. I use a small wood shim from the hardware store to lift my tub corners.

ok, I lowered the temps a bit and now there is a condensation on the lid, but not enough to drop on the eggs, so that's good . I will keep watching it for a couple of days .
thanks again for help .
