    New Coastal

I haven't been on this forum in ages and stumbled onto here again a few days ago. Thought I'd post some pictures of my newest edition. This is my 09 female coastal carpet. My previous python experience has just been my two ball pythons. So far she's been very docile and is an awesome snake. She's about 5ft and 700 grams. The breeder slow grows his snakes and feeds them every other week to once a month so hopefully she'll start bulking up with more regular feelings. She's my first carpet so any tips from trite experienced people would be awesome.

Very nice carpet you have there. I don't have any experience with carpets that big yet, but my little guy is great. just remember that they aren't wired to ball up like BP's are if you give them the chance/reason to tag you they will... and they have some nasty teeth.

Greate looking coastal! She sounds like a peach.

They aren't tricky, and tolerate a wide variety of temperatures and seasons.

Thanks guys. I hoping she keeps her docile temperament. She seems pretty relaxed now and I haven't messed with her to much since I've brought her home but she's just been content to wrap around my arm and just hangout which is cool.

The one time I was afraid she would bite was when I first brought her home and I stupidly allowed her in the chandelier in my kitchen and it took 3 people 15mins to get her down. Lol never again!

The breeder said that his adults are never aggressive outside of feeding and even though the babies are nippy at first most of his calmed down quickly. I mean I'm not familiar with carpets and some vendors will say anything to to get you to buy something but I hopeful he's right lol.

I got a few more pictures of her today I thought I'd share I'm trying not to bug her and let her settle in but it's so hard lol!

She's extremely good natured and is for sure the most inquisitive snake I've ever had the privilege of owning. You really get a snakes that there is something going on up stairs with her.

    Nice, shes very pretty!
I love carpets but for some reason all of them look like they have a "touch me and you'll die" look on their faces lol. Idk if im the only one that thinks that. Like boas have more of a dog looking face.

That's funny because I feel the opposite way about boas. I think it's because the one boa I have real experience with wants to tear me a new one lol.

She does a little huff and puffing when I go to get her out but I think it's more of a "Whoa whoa whoa! You just woke me up not cool!" as by ball pythons do the same thing. This whole photo shoot was kept following my iPhone around and would get right up in the camera though. It was priceless!

I've only had my girl for a month or so; she & I are still getting used to each other. The big thing I've noticed, at least with mine, is she has two modes when it comes to getting her out. The first is, "I'd rather you not touch me, but fine." and after a little chase & some tail tickling she'll slither right up my arm. The other is along the lines of, "You &%$# leave me alone or I'll take a chunk of your flesh with me to my hide." which she communicates by shooting straight under the fake plants, while billowing & hissing. Instead of forcing her out in those moods I leave her alone for the day. She's never struck or tagged me though, & I really enjoy the show of personality, even if it means I get to hang out with her less. In addition to her decisive attitude toward being handled, she also chooses whether she wants to be observed on her perch by going to her hide when someone peeks ib to look, or by staying put & showing off.

Watch out for stereo, tv or instrument cords though...Evangeline found ours once & it took immense patience & about 20 minutes to convince her she shouldn't grab them. My SO about had a heart attack lol. He's kind of scared of her.
