    Provent-a-mite usage??

    Hello,

So I've read the instructions carefully, but I would like to make sure I'm doing this right. Questions -

    1. The tank has been drying outside for 3 or so hours, but when I wipe the inside of the tank with my finger there is a residue - is that normal?

    2. Am I supposed to spray the substrate/paper towels or replace them? I have 2 tanks, 1 has paper towels the other has bark chips. The instructions say spray it and I thought that might help get some of the mites off the snake once they are returned, but I would prefer to just replace it, but didn't know if spraying the substrate is part of the process.

    Thanks,

    Cally

You can spray the existing substrate if it's relatively clean. Even if you put it fresh spray the old also as the mites will be in the trash.

And yes, there is supposed to be a residue. The important thing is that there are no vapors and that it's not in the water.

Change the substrate and spray NEW substrate. There's no use keeping more living bugs in the tank than necessary, even though PAM will kill them eventually. In fact, I'd do a quick spray in the garbage bag that has the old bedding in it before tossing it in the trash can (but I'm kind of vindictive when it comes to blood-sucking parasites on my animals).

Just pull the waters and give a good spray of the substrate. Follow the cans instructions exactly and it will work wonders. Best stuff You can buy IMO.
Like annnarose said, give the trash a good spray, I even sprayed the area around my rack. Those little a holes can be anywhere....kill them all!
