Egg help!!

Well she totally ended up laying an egg!! Way excited but I only have an hour to do something with it before I have to go to work and I'm not sure what to do!

Gave her a lay box because she was digging around and she ended up laying today, one little egg. Before I adopted the pair of them was kept together and I separated them. I don't have an incubator or anything =/

What should I do with the egg? It's on top of a really moist mix of Eco earth at the moment.

What temp should it be at?

Should the container be sealed?

Should I put it over the cool side of my ball python tank do it will be around the mid 70's?

you don't need an incubator with crestie eggs ... I just put mine on a shelf and forget it for a couple of months lol.... just remember they retain sperm so even though they are seperated she can keep laying eggs for months

Be prepared, if she laid one she will probably lay more. They usually lay 2 at a time. Lots of people out there do not use incubators for crested geckos and it works out fine for them. I talked to multiple breeder though and they said lower incubation temperature have proven to produce better crested geckos (structure wise). If you have a place that stays 70-73 degrees that would be perfect! It will take longer for them to hatch at this temp, but will be worth it in the end.

Just be sure the eco earth isnt soaking wet so the egg dont get too wet and die.

If its a Crestid Gecko egg, you can keep them at room temp and set them on a shelf and for get it. Im guessing its Crestie due to forum, but gave the Leo guide too

If its leopard gecko eggs you will need to provide a temp of 80-83 if wanting female and or 88-90 if wanting males

Sorry i didn't specify lol I was in a hurry before work.. Yeah it's a crested gecko.

How long should I expect to wait before it hatches?

Don't get overwhelmed by all the information out there. See what will work for you and go with what you are most comfortable with. Most of all learn as much as you can and enjoy the process!

It doesn't look like anyone said it, but did you dig down a little to check for a second egg? I found my first crestie eggs today and one was on top and the other was buried pretty deep. If you missed one it will probably still hatch, but adult will sometimes eat the babies if they are allowed to hatch in the cage.

She laid and buried it inside one of her hides!!



The second one doesn't look as bright white though... I wonder if it's from being down in the damp Eco earth.

The second egg probably doesn't look as white from the echo earth. My second egg that was buried looks purple if I look at it in the wrong light.
