Taking snake to vet (just a check up)
What do you herpers ask the vets when you go to the vet?
Got my first ball python and I want him to be healthy. Stool sample for parasites, what else is there?
Also, what do you guys usually pay for vet bills (for RI, stuff like that)
Just curious and now that im a herp owner, I gota be prepared

Bills vary greatly by area and individual vet. Be warned some vets have little to no experience with snakes so you have to find a good one. (took me 3 tries) for me a visit costs about $60 then any medications/tests are added to that base cost.
If I were going in just for a check up I'd really only be worried about internal parasites unless you have noticed something that seems strange.

I don't take my snakes to the vet unless they are sick. I always purchase from reputable people so I don't typically have to worry about that. Unfortunately, it is hard to find a vet that specializes in your type of snake, even herp vets. Always be careful and make sure what is happening makes sense to you.
A vet office visit for me is around $90. A fecal probably close to $30. If the snake has a RI, then my vet always prescribes fortaz which is a series of shots done every 3 days for 1 month. That medicine usually costs around $35-$50. This is for my particular vet now. Each vet has different prices also.
I have only had to ever take 2 snakes to a vet in all my years of owning snakes.

Ask your vet if tests for blood born parasites would be necessary. If conditions were bad and there was a chance of mites, they could have transmited blood born parasites. In captive raised animals this threat is very low, but you said the conditions were bad and if your snake shared space with any wild caught, it might be worth checking.

He did have a few wild caught snakes, and the snake had a heat lamp and all, but in a wire cage that can only do so much in a barn @night.
Ima call around and google and see who knows what about vets in my area
