I'd planned on having a googly graphic for our head-banner of a snake popping out of an egg but alas was sidetracked and detained. So much to do so little time.
At any rate Happy Easter to all - and beware the nefarious marshmallow Peeps!
Yep, happy Easter to all!
Out of curiosity, anybody hip on how an egg laying bunny became part of the holiday? Scanned the bible and he's not mentioned anywhere, lol. Not getting all religious or anything here, just dawned on me that I have no idea how it got worked into the tradition...
How does one get in on the ground floor of picking a mascot for a holiday? I would like to see a nice kingsnake that left copies of the constitution and the 1964 civil rights act for all the good little boys and girls on MLK day.
Easter began as a Pagan festival; as a celebration of spring and the goddess Ester. I don't have time to type the whole thing now, but Christians adopted it (along with other originally-pagan holidays such as halloween and Yule) to serve as a celebration on their own terms.
Pretty fascinating stuff!
