OUCH!! Anyone else had a snake do this?

We all know a corn snake can't hurt humans - or so I thought until tonight. I was holding my ghost corn (adult male named Joxer) around my neck, while cleaning his tub just now. He was squirming around and tickling me with his tail, which was all fine and dandy... until he suddenly decided to JAB the tip of his tail DEEP into my ear! OMG. It was like accidentally stabbing yourself with a Q-tip, and hurt like a you-know-what!!

My ear is still throbbing a bit, and I swear he practically hit the ear drum. Should I be worried, and has anyone ever had a snake do this before? Weird enough that I had to share, and I can only imagine how a doctor would react to this story: "Hi. My snake stabbed me in the ear, and I'm worried he punctured something."

LOL...I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you're pretty unique on this score.

If it still hurts after a day or more, you might want to get it checked out. I imagine it'll probably be fine, though.

A first on BP.net?? I should win a special award!!

Thanks for the reply, and I'll definitely get it checked out if it still hurts in 2-3 days... which is my general rule-of-thumb for any injury, unless something is sticking out or bleeding uncontrollably. I'm like a dude when it comes to doctors, LOL.

HAHAHA. First I have heard of that, congrats! I haven't handled many corns, but even ball pythons do have sharp little tails if you consider them jabbing into your eardrum Oh no, one more way snakes are dangerous, awful pets. Now they're after our eardrums!

I'm sorry, I had to laugh when I read this. Hope everything is ok though.
