Penn Plax
Has anybody had any experience with Penn Plax tanks?
http://www.pennplax.com/pennplax%20p...atalog2009.pdf
They look like the Exo-terra styled tanks, but Penn Plax makes one with dimensions that would fit perfectly on my shelf (page 2, the 32" x 19").
This would be used for something other than a BP, but I want to know people's thoughts about the quality of the manufacturer.

Re: Penn Plax
I'm still curious about the manufacturer, but.... the cheapest I can find the tank is $330. I'd be better off buying a new shelving unit and a cheaper tank than buying that thing.

Seriously at $330 you could buy an AP T8 and a stand for it.

Animal plastics is having a sale right now. Only $150 for a T8. You could almost get two T8's shipped for $330 lol. Idk how much their shipping is though?

Their shipping for the T8 is $45, and I know the T8's have been on sale for a very long time now. If you buy the T8 fully loaded (flexwatt, lights, divider, door locks, and a basking shelf it adds up. But yeah 2 basic T8's for the price of one of these things that I've never even heard of.

Since we started carrying these, several staff members have used them, and each of the stores has had at least one model used in-store for several months. Love them! They look super nice, they're not hard to put together (even I could put one together, and I am horribly incompetent at building things), and are extremely durable.
The only negative that I know is that the wood is not well sealed for excessive moisture. If there is too much standing water, especially if you are attempting a vivarium style enclosure, it will be begin to slowly warp the wood. I have not tried treating the wood with a sealant or protective coating and then turning it into a vivarium, but since that type of method works for other kinds of unusual decorative cages I imagine it'd work well here.
These cages just plain look a little nicer, in my opinion, although the model you're looking at isn't the solid wood ones which are so fancy lookin.
