Chances are you aren't going to find PAM at any store. It has to be ordered online. The stuff sold at pet stores (like zoomed brand stuff) doesn't get the job done.
Yes mites can come on the wood substrates.
You don't need to pick the mites off by hand. That would be nearly impossible. PAM and soaking with a drop of dawn dish soap (water temp in the mid 80's) is what you need to do
