New pickup at long island show and questions

Picked up a male pastel and a female red tail boa. Still a little nervous about how big the read tail will get but the breeders said they were dwarf ones so hopefully it will stay around 6 ft. Anyways so I have the pastel male now and ever since I got it home it is trying to squeeze its head between the glass and the tracks for the sliding doors to get out. Its really dark towards the back of his cage where his hide is but all he wants to do is wedge his way out. Is this just because I have only had him for a day or are some always looking to escape? My normal just goes in the hide all day.

My male pastel does that sometimes as well.

*this is a really old photo*

I never thought that he was trying to get out, it seemed more like he was just climbing to me.

My Lesser watches me close his tank and knows exactly how it opens.... he tries the same thing !!!

It is kind of creepy !!! knowing he knows how to escape haha

we have a running pool around here on when he will escape and how long the wife`s Yorkie will last

Re: New pickup at long island show and questions

He's still getting used to his new home and will probably be restless for awhile. As long as your temps and humidity are fine and you're offering secure hides it isn't anything to worry about I would leave him alone with no handling for several days and that should help him calm down.

Oh, and if they told you that your red-tail was a "dwarf" then she's probably a Hog Island or a Caulker Cay, and those females usually grow to about 5-6 feet. Pictures would be the best way to tell

Thanks guys I don't know what I would do without these forums. I have a lock on my sliding doors so I'm not too worried about an escape lol. Here is a pic I will get a better one next weekend when I try handling them for the first time (of my red tail). The pic isn't great but its not a nornal I don't think. Its a skate gray with silver eyes and the red is more of a rose color right now. The guy said its cause its her foe jungle and albino.

And here is my pastel. Looks grayed out since its shot through the plastic but it was the nicest pastel I saw there.
