Milk Snakes

I love the tri-color of the milk snakes. I've often seen and heard repeated that the Honduran is the largest variety commonly found in the pet trade. Is there any truth to this?
I ask because I found this chart:http://www.pitt.edu/~mcs2/herp/Lampropeltis.html and it shows many to be larger than the Honduran, such as the Ecuadoran, Andean, Guatemalan and Atlantic Central American Milksnake. The other longer snakes listed I don't think would be confused with a Honduran.

If the Honduran is the largest commonly found in the pet trade, what is a reasonable average length?

Also, could you comfortably keep a 5-6 ft milk snake in the exo-terra medium-low tank?

I've found care sheets that say you can keep them in 15 gallon tanks and others that say 30 is the minimum.

Honduran's will definitely get longer than 3-4 ft. They are also very beautiful. I love those guys. You will also definitely need a tank bigger than 15 gallon. They get fairly long. I'm not even sure 30 gal would be big enough for an adult. But hopefully someone who knows a little more about them can shed some light on this for you.

Just be patient. A lot of people are out at work or possibly at reptile shows (just got home, lol). More people will be online tonight and then you will probably get more responses.

What is the minimum comfortable size you would keep a 5 ft snake in?

Personally, I like to give them enough room to stretch out almost completely. So in my case, I would keep a five foot snake in a four foot long enclosure. However, you MAY be able to keep a five footer in like...a three foot long enclosure. I wouldn't go smaller than that though.

I caught my own mistake - the exo-terra is 2' x 1.5' which is only 3 square feet, not 6.

It would need to be 48" x 18" or a 36" x 24"

I still am curious, whats the smallest reasonable cage size for a 5 ft snake.

i personally like the rule of length + width = snake length, ie 5' snake would need a 3'x2' cage, or longer and narrower
