    Tank Size?

As I have mentioned before I am looking at buying a ball python sometime in July or August and I am curious about tank size. I have a friend that offered to sell me an old tank of hers cheap. It is a 55 gallon terrarium and has not been used in a while, she said it just needs to be cleaned and I should be set. I guess what I'm really asking is if a 55 gallon is an OK size for a ball python?

a 55 gallon is an OK size for an adult but is huge for a hatchling.

Tanks are not the way to go. especially with a 55 gallon they are nearly impossible to maintain the proper temperatures and humidity in. Tubs and PVC cages are a much better solution that will make keeping your BP much easier and provide better conditions for your BP.

Here is a great thread on tubs:

and here is a thread on PVC cages:

Keep in mind that a BP is a 20+ year commitment. Getting good caging/equipment in the first place will save you lots of money and time in the long run.
