    Feeding Schedule

    Hey everyone,

First off just want to say hey as im new to the forums!! Been cruising for a while but have never said anything haha. You guys are great around here!!

I have a 6 month old male BP who i have feeding a single live rat pup every two weeks. I have tried before to feed every week, and every 10 days but food is refused every time.

Im just curious if theres a certain point I should try to change up the schedule and try every week again and see how it works? He is 205.1 grams and i last weighed him about a month ago - never misses a meal, great temperment and is definantly gaining.

Just want to make sure im doing whats best for him, hes my first snake and I plan on getting more (as soon as I have the room haha). I might just be worrying too much but can never be too safe.

    First off, welcome to BP.net

Your BP is pretty light for his age (are you certain of his age?)

For young BP's you want to feed them rodents that weigh 10%-15% of the snakes body weight. so a 100 gram BP should eat 15 grams of rodent. (100 x 0.15 = 15)

So your 205 gram BP should get 30.75 (which is bigger than most rat pups)

a slightly larger rodent might increase feeding response. It would be best to get him on a 7-10 day feeding schedule.

    Welcome!

It might be worth having a fecal done, just to be sure there is no parasite issue and general health is good.
    Double check your husbandry.

Once your sure he is healthy and your husbandry is spot on, you might have a difficult eater.

I have a female that has had issues since I picked her up, she is 14 months old and now only 730gram.
I've had her to the vet 2x since I purchased her, and all checked out, she is just a real pita to feed.
