Do Males or Females tend to be friendlier?

I am getting my first ball python soon and she's a female - mainly because that's what the breeder had left for affordable morphs. I didn't care so much about the gender, and have a feeling there isn't much of a difference and it's based on the individual, etc. But I'm curious, from your experience which -tends- to have a nicer disposition?

You are correct. There isn't a difference between gender. Just individuals.

Although in my personal collection, my boys seem to be the more social butterflies of the bunch.

No gender difference that I have noticed. I have one male that's puppy dog tame, and one female that's puppy dog tame. One female that would probably rather I don't ever touch her, and one male that you have to watch real careful when he is in feed mode. One male that I think may be bi-polar, because sometimes he is a doll, sometimes he is like grease lighting and just wants back in his tub. Then there's my new girl, who I think is going to be another puppy dog.

In the hundreds (maybe thousands by now) of ball pythons I've dealt with through the stores over the last few years, I have never noticed a difference in temperament between the two genders.

Most are mellow and sweet, a handful would rather not be messed with, and a select few are downright cranky. Gender doesn't seem to play into it, just the personality of individual snakes, as previous posters have said.

for the most part, both males and females are equally friendly. There are some factors that could cause unfriendliness such as: feeding time, the first time they come home (some are shy some are not...it all depends), if a female is coiled on a clutch of eggs, if they are in shed. For me, all my snakes have different personalities that cause different temperaments.

All animals have personalities, just like people do. Some good, some bad.

Theres no difference whatsoever. Although i have heard a few people say that they believe darker morphs to be more agressive. I personally havent found this to be true but maybe thats why i like working with cinnamons

No difference except that what ever your new girl is, she'll be a bigger one than an average male...she'll be a bigger puppy dog, or a bigger fill in the blank
