Do ball pythons ever stop being jumpy?
Generally, will BPs always be jumpy or on edge when outside their enclosure? Mine has calmed down a little, but can still be ridiculously jumpy when I'm setting him down on the ground and he feels the ground on his tail he gets super tense, and then even when his head touches something he freak outs for a second.

So do some don't. All of mine are to the point that I could stroke their heads without them even flinching... Something that seemed impossible when I first got them.

I think the more the animal is handled correctly from an early age the more likely the snake will be less jumpy and less head shy.

My pastel used to be really jumpy but now he's as cool as the other side of the pillow. My pinstripe is jumpy when I first open his tub and take him out but then he chills out almost immediately. I think it depends on the individual snake.

Totally depends on the individual. A breeder friend of mine used to have a 4200 gram female that had been in his collection for more than 10 years and was still jumpy as a hatchling.
Jumpy hatchings are kinda' cute. A jumpy full grown female will keep you on your toes

I think most of them tend to mellow out as they get bigger. Once they reach a certain size they realize that they arent as vulnerable. Also once they figure out youre not a predator thats gunna eat them they cool off. But as Slim said theres always exceptions.

Some of them do. My boy Riddle has completely lost his jumpiness. When he was younger he was incredibly shy and nervous. He doesn't ball up or draw back at anything these days.

Haha all 3 of my corns are hillarious in comparisson to my bp my youngest corn kills me she is such a lil fire cracker I swear I don't think I ever seen a snake move so fast I have just been trying to be very patient with her in attemps to calm her down she's suppose to be my six yr olds snake
