    Couple Questions!

So I have a couple questions regarding my amazing butter First the thermastat was messed with in my room and his tank on the cool side was 76 for a few hours. The warm side because of the UTH was still at an even 90. Will he be alright from that brief temp? Also he was still in his cool side Hide which confuses me. I know he might not have wanted to be that warm, but it's better then 76 right? Also the hides are identical and I have seen him go into both so I know that's not the issue.

Secondly I picked him up the other day, as I am slowly trying to get him used to being handled. He is doing much better! The first day he stayed in a ball in my hands so after about 5-10 min I placed him back. The second time he crawled around and was fine. He has three times now made an almost squeaking noise when I first pick him up. The day I first got him when placing him in his tank he made the noise, and also when I picked him up several weeks later. Now he only does it for the first few seconds until he get's more comfy. I was worried about RI but its only when I first pick him up, he is not yawning constitly or showing any other sign of an infection.

Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance!

Relax. He'll be fine as long as it didn't get into the 50's-60's. Even then, if he didn't have a full stomach, he could handle a wider range of temperatures. The reason he didn't move is he was probably still comfortable at the cooler temp. Just because they have the option of a warmer area doesn't mean they always use it.

As for the noise, it may have just been a hiss. I don't own balls yet so you may want to wait for a bp breeder/owner to answer that one. I wouldn't worry too much though if he's eating, isn't showing signs of labored breathing, and has no discharge. Since he only does it when you pick him up, it's probably just a startle/behavioral reaction.

76 is not a problem, he will be just fine He stayed in his cool side hide because it wasn't too chilly to be uncomfortable, like Dracoluna said.

On the noise, I'm not sure, but it definitely could have been a startled reaction to handling. I wouldn't worry unless you start hearing frequent noises or seeing other weird behaviors like oozing, wheezing, lots of yawning, and popping.

    Re: Couple Questions!

YOur snake shou;ld be fine I had a CHE fail and my big normal girl was at 71 all day with out an issue. The noise was most likely a hiss they do that from time to time. Make sure to check out the caresheet. Also how long have you had him I would advise not handeling for a least the first week I usually wait until they eat at least twice for me hope this helps

These guys aren't as delicate as we sometimes make them out to be. The ambient temp on the cool side of my rack stays around 78 to 79 degrees at all times. Temp inside the cool side hide is almost always 80 degrees. Having the ambient go down to 76 degrees for a while won't cause any problems.
