Turns out my job orders from L A Reptile
I got promoted to doing the ordering for our animals at the petstore I work at and while looking at the list of available animals I noticed of the 2 sources we get from, one of them is L A Reptile. Isn't that rare or something? I read a thread on faunaclassifieds that they were saying that company only does business with a select wholesale clientele and does not accept new customers for the most part...Is this great news or what?

Here is the thread http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...?t=31279&pp=40
Come on, no one has anything to say? Try finding their website yourselves

Wow, some people in that thread really made it seem like dealing, let alone talking with Chris is akin to being accepted into some secret society. These comments are more directed at what was implied in that old Fauna thread.
(1) If they are as secretive and exclusive as was made out to be on that thread, do you think they would appreciate someone announcing that they have access to them? Or better yet, do you think that your supervisor would appreciate such an exclusive arrangement being aired on a forum?
Please do not take this the wrong way, but if you were my employee, I would be pretty cross if I found out you were encouraging people to start hunting them down. Whether you meant it or not, I can guarantee you that most of the people who read this thread will start hunting for info on them. If I were LA Reptiles, I would be less than pleased.
(2) I have their contact information - does that make me special? I really think that the Fauna thread painted a somewhat misleading picture.
(3) There are a lot of quality people in this business who don't have websites, but have been well known in this hobby for decades as breeding and selling top notch animals. I know several of them who do not post their stock on fauna or kingsnake or any other site, but who are pioneers in the species they produce. They were here before the current household names and they will be here after the current household names burn out and fade away.
I think it's great that the store you work for is one that LA Reptiles has agreed to do business with. Unless things have changed, you should have access to some interesting animals. If you are so inclined, it may be an opportunity for you to get into some species that you may not normally have access to or be able to afford.

Do you think his supervisor has any idea? Even if he saw his thread I think he'll have a hard time finding AEnimaDrummer on the payroll.

Well, let's put it his way.
If I'm LA Reptiles, and all of a sudden I get a rash of calls from people I don't know - it is very possible that I may get directed by someone to this thread.
If I then look at where the OP is from, and having a focused small clientele base, I will probably be able to narrow down what store in New York or on Long Island has an employee talking about getting animals from me and perhaps unwittingly urging people to look me up.
There are reasons why some importers/breeders/etc. go out of their way to not advertise to the general public. When you take special pains to narrow down your client base, there is usually a very specific reason for this.

The cyber side of this hobby is not nearly as large as you might think it is. There's a very good chance Chris will see this thread, if he hasn't already.

If the English language had a neuter pronoun, I'd use it. Otherwise, I didn't pick up on the sex of the poster.

He wasn't correcting you, he was correcting himself, referring to the post he'd just made right above. The "Chris" he refers to from LA Reptiles is a woman, not a man.

I don't think my boss would care because when I asked him about it he really had no clue... Just wanted some feedback...I had never heard of them before and the only thing I could find on the web was that one thread on Fauna so I just wanted a 2nd opinion, not to be lectured...Thanks alot!!
