Where could I get a Ball Python in Boston/Cambridge?
Hello.
My friend and I are thinking of getting a ball python as a new pet.
We are students at a college in the Boston area and we have pretty limited transportation options other than the MBTA.
Are there any breeders who sell nice, baby BP or good places nearby?
I heard that buying from PetSmart is not a good idea...
Anyone?
Please pm me.
Thank you!

The big breeders will ship right to your door, I highly suggest Justin Kobylka Reptiles

by the way, we are looking for cheap BP...since it's our first one, i don't want to spent hundreds of dollars and end up making a mistake...>.<
is buying from PetSmart really bad?
they have BPs for 50$ right now....
any suggestions?
or anyone selling cheap BPs?

You can buy normal BP's from breeders for cheap (they don't list them on their website, but if you email them they can hook you up)
Buying from petsmart has a few major issues.
1. Cost, they charge way to much for a normal BP
2. The health of the animal: petsmart keeps their reptiles in terrible conditions (improper heat/humidity, and they don't feed them enough, or even the right things)
3. Wild/captive hatched: most pet stores sell snakes captured from the wild or eggs taken from the wild then hatched in captivity. You always want to get a snake that was conceived and hatched in captivity. If you get one that wasn't, they generally have a bad attitude, they are harder to get to eat, and have a high chance of internal parasites.

There are two new England expos coming up I'll be there, I'm sure you can find a normal for cheap but still from a reputable breeder. I like BHB. You can go to their web site see what they have and click it and it will be at your door the next day. With The big pet stores you run the risk of a lot of things, wild born, mites and so on. Going with a reputable breeder you can't go wrong.

ah ok...thank you!
hm..shipping isn't too bad, i guess...
is it a good idea to visit them if possible and get it there instead of shipping it so i can check for health and stuff?
or can these breeders be trusted at face value?

From my experience, BHB, royal constrictor designs and NERD can 100 percent be trusted. They wouldn't be so successful if they couldn't be. These are not the only ones that can be trusted by far, just the ones I have done business with.
